took my family here twice camping the first time 2 nights and 3 day stay was pretty fun, walk the train, play sport in the field, went fishing down the unloading boat area and went to the pool that is located about 15 minutes away. second time even better. the two guys that keep this place clean and up to the policy are doing a great job i even had the chance to see them working on the playground. very friendly stuff and respectful. one of the two guys name is "ken" he would be the one at the office who would check u in and after that you see him everywhere and doing everything that have to be done in the park. i mean it everything.
Great little campground. Sites are large, private, and wooded. Plenty of space for tents, hammocks, and cars. Firewood bundles are insanely huge, it's a great deal. Staff is friendly and helpful, Dan and Ben were great.
They happened to have both a movie night and a craft fair the weekend we stayed, both were very enjoyable. I wish more parks did stuff like that.
This park is perfectly adequate: sites are well-maintained and well-spaced, bathrooms are clean enough, staff is helpful and friendly. (And they bring you the biggest bundle of wood you can possible imagine for only $8, wow!) But it's not really a "nature" camping experience. It's right off of route 30 so there is constant traffic noise, and there's not much to explore outside of your campsite. Perfectly fine for a cheap spot to pitch a tent and sit by a fire if you are traveling through the area but if you are going to commune with nature you'll be disappointed.
Peaceful, awesome park attendants, cordial fellow campers.
They lose a point for being able to hear cars on route 30 from most of the camp. Some sites even have a full view of the cars going by. Also, they have the worst toilet paper ever. I don't think it's even a full ply!
The campgrounds are well maintained. Our stay was very enjoyable. We even had a deer grazing next to our tents. No cellphone service, barely enough to text from the marked areas, but that's probably a good thing. The only reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because there's some noise coming from nearby Rt 30 that can be heard practically on every site.
